Professional Fees

Boston Forensic Associates accepts a variety of payment sources. These include motion for funds from court systems and contracts with local, state and federal government entities as well as payment from insurance companies. We also accept private pay. In addition, we accept cases billed through the Committee for Public Counsel Services (Massachusetts). Typically, a medical insurance plan will not cover payment for forensic evaluations.

Generally, our assessments are billed on an hourly basis. Before we can begin a case, unless there is a motion for funds for the case or a contract on file, we ask for a retainer for approximately fifty percent of the expected costs of the case. Some cases are billed on a per case basis. Many Immigration and Naturalization Services evaluations are billed on such a basis.

Our fees typically include billing for professional activities rendered in a case including the face- to-face time for the evaluation as well as for any collateral interviews in person or by phone, review of records, reporting writing, preparation for depositions and court testimony and deposition and testimony time. Travel time and any waiting time is also billable.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our fees.
